Creating cultural change: what works

Five key elements go into creating a culture of appreciation: consistency, communication, training, modeling, and cadence. Jason Anderson, O.C. Tanner’s Director of Product Development, discusses why these elements are essential.

We’re talking about change management so consistency, communication, training but also modeling. I think that’s the most important part, is that they see it modeled. I’ll add one more thing to that and that is recognition needs to be part of the cadence of your everyday work. So as we’re designing solutions, we’re looking for ways to create success. We’re trying to understand, again, how do they operate their business, what are their normal patterns and kind of the rhythm that their business is in and how can we put recognition in natural ways into that rhythm?
