Culture Trend #1: Emerging from crisis, companies focus on culture.

 

Workplace culture is in flux. Prior to the pandemic, the predominant culture in government organizations was around compliance, with an emphasis on hierarchy, accountability, and supervision. When Covid-19 shut down offices, it became apparent that across-the-board policies of the past no longer work in a new, remote work environment. Managers and employees in government agencies have adapted and are now faced with creating a new normal for their organization’s culture.

Underlying all of this change is a fear of Covid-19 in the workplace and the continued uncertainty of how economies will perform. A SHRM study found two out of three companies reported keeping employee morale up to be difficult during the pandemic, and one-third said maintaining company culture was a challenge.
