O.C. Tanner is Incentive Marketing association’s 2012 Social Responsibility Award Winner

NAPERVILLE, Ill. The Incentive Marketing Association (IMA) has named O.C. Tanner Co., Salt Lake City, Utah, as its 2012 winner of the IMA Circle of Excellence Social Responsibility Award. The award was presented to O.C. Tanner Vice President of Business Development Michelle M. Smith, CPIM, CRP, by IMA President Dave Peer, CPIM, at the All-Industry Reception Oct. 24, held in conjunction with the Motivation Show in Chicago.

According to IMA Executive Director Karen Renk, “The Social Responsibility Award recognizes incentive suppliers that have gone above and beyond in their efforts to have socially responsible practices and policies, to actively protect the environment, and to contribute to the welfare of the local and global community.”

O.C. Tanner was chosen for the IMA Social Responsibility Award for its leadership in several specific areas, including its comprehensive employee diversity and philanthropic activities, earmarking at least 10 percent of profits annually for local and national charities. In addition, the company was recognized for its award-winning environmental policies and practices at its facilities, as well as within its supply chain and product lineup. O.C. Tanner’s economic and social justice activities include its partnership with Americana Artisans, which distributes all profits to environmental and humanitarian causes in Central America, and its participation in the Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism, along with an extensive supplier audit process to insure adherence to labor and human rights standards.

Upon accepting the award, Smith said, “Obert C. Tanner founded the O.C. Tanner Company in hopes of ‘creating a better future beyond our present best,’ and his commitment to quality, innovation and sustainability forever shaped our business, our people, and the recognition industry as a whole. His vision has become a legacy and we remain a company committed to reducing waste, reusing materials, recycling all we can, and refining and improving processes throughout the supply chain. I am extremely proud to accept this award on behalf of my colleagues who work tirelessly every day to make O.C. Tanner and our industry better and healthier places to work.”

“O.C. Tanner is a shining example of a company that is an outstanding corporate citizen, has a culture of philanthropy, proactively protects the environment, and includes products in their award mix that promote economic justice,” Renk said.
